Combing

Combing is a meditative film that contemplates past and present, memories and the current father – daughter relationship.

Lithuania, 2019, 5, Direction: Eglė Davidavičė, Production: Eglė Davidavičė.
Lithuanian born director and animator Eglė Davidavičė began making short films at Skalvija Film Academy and continued her animation studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts which she graduated in 2019. Her debut animated film My Birth was nominated for the Best Student Film award by the Lithuanian Film Academy in 2018.

The Fantastic Garden

An indigenous teacher implements the use of Ayahuasca in her classes in order to connect her students to another reality. During a ritual, one of the children comes upon a weird gear in the forest.

Fábio Baldo has written and directed the award-winner films Caos (2010), Da Origem (2011), Geru (2014), and Antes o Tempo não Acabava (2016). In 2015, the French Cinémathèque in Paris held a retrospective of his films.

It's All the Salt's Fault

The youngest daughter of a family of sloths rebuilds her parents’ and three siblings’ story. Behind the normality of a family, the wild spirit appears in everyday life details, turning into untameable memories.

González discovered animation early and since then she has developed her projects experimenting with traditional techniques. Her graduation film Añejo was selected in more than 50 film festivals. In 2018, she directed the short film Coffee Break. Currently she is developing her feature film My Dad the Truck, the winning project of the FDC scriptwriting category.

Silver or Lead

The personification of the hitman in this parody of a music video, inspired by the figure of the bad man-rapper of music videos, tells a fiction in which the act of killing is banalized, as in action movies, one after another, the bodies of the actors are riddled under the bullets of the protagonists, the killing activity is acted upon and recorded indifferently.

Nadia Granados (b 1978 in Bogotá, Colombia) is a Colombian performance artist who uses her body concept in combination with multi-media technologies to explore relationships between the representation of state violence in mainstream media, institutionalized machismo, heterosexual pornography and violence against women.

Gramercy

Shaq, a young man grappling with depression, returns to his New Jersey hometown, where his exploration of grief and brotherhood transforms into the imagining of an inner life.

Jamil McGinnis and Pat Heywood are writing, directing, and producing partners based in Brooklyn, New York, collaborating under the moniker Seneca Village Pictures. Their work has been featured on PBS, NOWNESS, TIDAL, NPR, NoBudge, and screened at a multitude of prestigious film festivals.

I'm too busy

Ocean’s son got married and moved out, and his departure hits her harder than expected. In this bizarre self-portrait, an aging dance instructor talks about her humdrum life in Shanghai, the indolence that has crept into her marriage, and her job, which she has been going about unhappily for years. This fake documentary is a follow-up on Ocean’s solitude and effort to connect with her family again.

Carmen Aumedes Mier (b. 1996) is a writer, editor and director based in Madrid and Barcelona. She graduated from ESCAC in the specialty of direction (2019) with the short film ‘Marleni, not Marlen’. The same year she travelled to Shanghai to shoot this film.

Average Happiness

During a PowerPoint presentation, statistical diagrams are breaking free from the strait-jacket of their coordinates. A trip into the sensual world of statistics begins. Pie charts are melting, arrow diagrams twisting, scatter plots, bar graphs and stock market curves join in a collective climax.

Maja Gehrig (b 1978 in Zurich, Switzerland) has attended ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste), Fachhochschule Aarau, Media Arts department, HSLU (Hochschule Luzern, Design & Kunst), Animation department. She’s done an internship at Eesti Joonisfilm and works as curator of installations and performances at ARM (Artspace Rondeel Maastrict).
