Mapping the Unknown

Docurama is a selection of this year’s best documentaries pushing the boundaries of the form. Mapping the unknown goes from macro to micro and back again, from historical deflection to personal introspection. From revisiting the past to rewriting it, these films look at the precariousness in the search for inner and outer control, whether it’s about humans or animals, in the process examining imperialist viewpoints and colonialist tendencies, and a trip to the movies in the 80s to watch Oliver Stone’s Platoon.
