Love in Greek
Uppsala Short Film Festival screens two of the the best of new medium length films – longer than a short, shorter than a feature – about love, mystery and myth. Warm up from the winter cold with the sunny sensuality and sadness of these art films exploring Greek mythology and poetry.
Euridice, Euridice (Lora Mure-Ravaud, France/Switzerland, 43 minutes)
Ondina is a radiant, happy young woman. She lives with Alexia, they are in love. Their relationship is passionate and sensual. But one day, Alexia flies to her native Greece and does not return. This is a contemporary variation on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
You Burn Me (Matías Piñeiro, Argentina/Spain, 64 minutes)
The ancient Greek poet Sappho and the nymphBritomartis meet beside the sea and have a conversation about love and death. You Burn Me is a modern adaptation of a chapter from Cesare Pavase’s philosophical dialogues between figures from Greek mythology and a bittersweet depiction of desire and romantic love. It’s also an exploration of the relationship between literature and film.
Entrance free of charge (20 SEK service charge).
